My first New yr in Saudi!!

Happy new year to one and all.
So 2010 has arrived. I am just posting this blog to share my new year experience with all of you.

This is the first year I am celebrating new year in Saudi and the greatest part is this is my first new year with my hubby. For the last 2 yrs I was in India and my hubby was in Saudi. Had lots of fun.
We had a small get together at our place on 31st night. We had decided that each one of us would prepare a dish for the party.
I decided to prepare vegetable biriyani - raitha. The photos are here.

 The other dishes were ladoo, jilebi, chappathi, frozen parota, channa masala, potato fry and curd rice. It was a very simple menu as only few of us were there. Even though we were only few, we made a dhamaka on new yr eve.
All of us assembled at our place at around 8.00 pm. We all ladies decided to wear saree. After everyone arrived, we chatted for sometime and had our dinner. All the dishes were very tasty.
After finishing our dinner, we decided to play few games. First we started with a game where in a person has to pick a paper and do whatever is written on that. We played this for sometime. The next game was antakshari and then dumb sharats. It was fun. By the time we finished playing, it was 1 pm. We wished each other and dispersed.

The next day's schedule - Jan 1st 2010
Early in the morning we left for baharain. As there are no temples in saudi, we went to bahrain temple. Its a krishna temple. Its beautiful. After darshan, we went to have breakfast in Sangeetha hotel. After that a bit of shopping was done. In the afternoon, we went for the movie - 3 Idiots. Man, it was an amazing movie. We could'nt help laughing. It was very funny yet very informative movie.

By the time the movie got over, it was already 5 pm. Then we just roamed around the city for sometime, had our dinner and left for saudi.

Even though my new year party was simple, it was a memorable one.
