Rich in cocoa, dark chocolates are pure sin and simply too good to resist. You could never satiate yourself with just one bite now, could you? Cakes, cookies, milk, ice cream, anything would do!
We give more reasons (not that you needed any, but what the heck!) why chocolates are good for you :)
Magnesium matters
Dark chocolate contains traces of magnesium, a nutrient required to maintain a healthy heart. Dr Gautam Shah, a nutritionist from Chennai, says magnesium naturally stabilises the rhythm of the heart and prevents abnormal blood clotting. As a result, you can maintain normal blood pressure levels.
Digest this
Dark chocolate is an excellent source of flavnoids, which restore the normal acidic balance of your digestive tract. Whenever you have constipation and indigestion problems, simply have a bar of dark chocolate.
Glowing skin
"The antioxidants in dark chocolate protect the skin against free radicals as they're anti-inflammatory in nature," says Dr Sudha Shivraj, a nutritionist from Jaipur. They act against foreign particles that disrupt normal skin balance. Antioxidants also increase your body's natural defence mechanism.
Stress buster
"Dark chocolate causes the secretion of serotonin, an antidepressant which is also known as the happy hormone," says Dr Shivraj. That's why eating a bar of dark chocolate when you're depressed or stressed will lift your mood.
Blood rush
The flavnoids present in dark chocolate are known to dilate blood vessels present in the human body. "This makes it easy for blood to flow to all parts of the body without any restriction," says Dr Shivraj.
So go grab a bar of dark chocolate, stir in a spoonful in your milk or just put some in your cake frosting. Have it your way! But remember, anything in excess can be bad for your health so have it in limited quantities.
